Because I actually tend to do character memes straight away, the one that everyone's throwing around at the moment -
Name a character from one of my fandoms and I'll give you:
(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
(b) a reason he/she sucks
(c) a reason he/she is awesome
(d) five things that never happened to that character and/or
(e) five people that character never fell in love with and why
Fandoms Applicable: Fakenews/Punditry/etc, Life on Mars, Torchwoods, New Who, Psych, Supernatural. Any of the others I've rambled about at and/or with you.
And then
themistoklis went and tagged me. :(
(Kidding, dearest.)
+First: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.
+ Second: Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag whoever tagged you. Not my style, peeps.
Have you ever lied to a teacher/boss to get out of a deadline?
Oh, yes. Because I was a faily failtastic person towards the end of school. Lies all over the place. And, of course, these days - less with deadlines and more about being a couple of minutes late for work because I can't be arsed leaving in time when I only work, like, five minutes down the road.
What kind of magazines do you read?
My sister buys me a subscription to Empire and SFX each Christmas. Aside from that you might occasionally find me reading an issue of All Out Cricket (mostly if Alastair or Stuart are on the cover) or experimenting with writing magazines.
Who is your current favourite singer?
Well - given how much play her album's got on my computer since she was on TCR - I'd say Lisa Hannigan. (I was very fond of Duffy, last year, but she's not been quite so busy this year.) It's actually interesting for me to have a favourite female singer - I can be quite picky over female artists.
(If this had been about bands - hands down it would've gone to Movits! for being so awesome and the literal translation of their album name being Apple swiper jazz and thus music for scrumping.)
What's your dream job?
Writer. Storytelling. Writing. Writer.
Who is your celebrity crush and why?
*dies laughing* Seriously? I'm not picking one. Current obvious ones: ASkarks, for being hot and Swedish and incredibly good at the acting thing, Jon Stewart, for being silver foxy and so fucking smart it makes my brain hurt and funny and self-deprecating, Alastair Cook and Stuart Broad (I can't seperate them in my head), for being all kinds of hottastic and (in Stuart's case) rapidly improving his game and (in Alastair's case) fixing his technique and getting back to back Pro40 hundreds.
What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
I think we all know this one: Fakenews/Punditry/etc. I mean. Seriously. I think I have a condition.
(I love it really.)
What are you reading right now?
Two things: Everlost by Neal Shusterman and I Am America (And So Can You) by "Stephen" Colbert.
Stephen's book keeps making me laugh really hard, you guys (there's an excellent aside joke in the SEX chapter that amused me way too much at work), which is an issue when I have rampant earache that doesn't appreciate smiling. (I'm going to the doctor about it, don't worry.)
Everlost is fascinating, young adult stuff, you know? It has a really neat conceit. It just...it blindsided me with something and I actually ended up trembling. (For those playing along at home - apparently this is a year where 9/11 still *waves hands*) So I'm reading it a little slower than usual - as if I expect it to do it again. (Very movingly blindsided, at least. But, man, I was not expecting it.)
What are you most excited for?
Hmm. Up finally comes out here next month (also Monsters vs. Aliens on DVD). The possibility of buying The Beatles: Rock Band. And, oh, yeah, HOLIDAY STARTS A WEEK WEDNESDAY. Unfortunately this Wednesday is my last day off until that point and I'm calling. All week. Which is taking the piss, really - but it wouldn't be my TM if he wasn't taking the piss.
What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Gmail, The Complete Tales, LJ. Daily check of No-Fact Zone, too.
What was the last thing you bought?
The Thick of It series and Specials on DVD. (We watched In The Loop a couple of Saturdays ago so I'm going to have to wait for my family to watch 'em)
What was the cutest thing you've seen today?
BB Stephen, Paul and Steve from the Second City days. Maybe not cute by normal standards but, still, they're so wee!
Does the weather affect your mood?
Hmm. Nothing really lifts my spirits like a good wind. (Make your own jokes, people) I love the weather and all it's variables so, yeah, it mostly lifts my mood, rather than sinks it. (Except for those periods where we get fog in summer because we live by the North Sea.)
What is your zodiac sign?
Gemini. ("And that probably tells you more than you ever needed to know about me.")
Do you want to learn another language?
A whole world of yes to this one. I love languages and always did pretty well with them at school (Spanish and French - can't remember a lot of them, though more Spanish than I expected) and wish I had the time, and money, to dedicate to learning something properly.
Highlights of Jen's Internal List of Languages She Would Like To Learn: Swedish, Finnish (ever since my Spanish teacher told me she thought it was one of the hardest languages to learn), Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and countless others.
5 things you can't live without:
Interwebs, sadly. Music. Toothpaste. Cheese. Books.
What's the meaning of life?
I really cannot say anything other than 42, you guys. I mean. Really.
What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
"Never forget how truly awesome you are."
If you weren't doing this meme, what would you be doing instead?
Writing AC $3.60. Seriously, you guys. It's amazing.
Say something to the person who tagged you:
Well. Gee. Thanks for tagging me. *huffs* Seriously, though - you're an awesome person, dude, and I love having you on my flist, my AIM and in my life in general. ♥

on 2009-09-09 11:37 am (UTC)(a) 1) Stephen wears so many layers and so many masks that sometimes he's not even sure he knows who he is anymore. Sometimes he spends fifteen minutes staring in a mirror and asking himself.
2) Stephen knows how ridiculously in love he is with Jon and knows how it sounds when he can't stop talking about him. The problem is - he can't stop and he can never figure it out just what kind of love it is.
3) He misses being with Amy and Paul all the time. Really misses it. Enough to feel guilty whenever he comes home from having dinner with them.
(b) The power of the Nation is fucking scary, man.
(c) I know I'm probably echoing Kristen, but - dude's got balls of steel, man. The Correspondent's Dinner and the Formidable opponent in Iraq. He's amazing.
(e) Just the love ones for length.
1) The high school sweetheart: she was just way too too for Stephen. And, besides, she always looked at him in the friend way and even then Stephen knew he wouldn't deal with heartache well.
2) Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello: in Stephen's head they always go together and even though he's completely comfortable with the idea of loving two people at the same time - by the time he really looked at both of them they were looking at each other.
3) That one guy in college: Stephen wasn't quite at home in his skin, still pretending to be someone he wasn't in a way that actually wasn't helpful, and the guy went with that imaginary Stephen who dreamt of being Hamlet. Stephen realised that just in time.
4) Tina Fey: she was young and so funny Stephen thought his heart might burst. But she was young and Stephen was her director and, frankly, that was just way too clichéd.
5) Jon Stewart: the thing about Jon is, if Stephen ever really thought about it, he knows it could rip his life apart and burn it to ashes. Stephen couldn't deal with the pain. And he couldn't do that to Jon.
